IKS is a soulful pop band featuring young Jazz musicians who met during their studies in Amsterdam. With the uncommon set up of three completely different voices that blend wonderfully together, accompanied by a grooving rhythm section consisting of bass and guitar, they have a unique sound in their arrangements and original music. Without the expected drum set, they’re able to create an intimate atmosphere as well as gospel like explosions whenever the music needs it. In their own compositions the band combines their jazz-roots with their love for Pop and R&B.
Although based in the Netherlands, the five band members are from all over Europe. They started out in November 2015 with a cover of D'Angelo's Higher and have been creating music together since. The three singers are: Isla Van Hout, Bahghi Yemane and Sarah Zeleznik. Mikael Ásmundsson on guitar and Robert Rebane on bass guitar and loopstation.
In 2016 IKS released a series of live-videos of a living room session. They were guests in the radio program CoLive! of NPO Soul & Jazz and reviewed in the Jazzism. In May they were on tour in Estonia and coming fall the band will release their debut EP.
